We all live within some kind of landscape. It may be the nature spread before our eyes, or the trace of an emotion that lingers deep in the heart. Some landscapes rise slowly from memory; others take shape quietly in the invisible distance between one person and another. In this way, the world each of us sees settles in the heart in a different form.
The time we live in now rests on landscapes that exist close to one another yet are hard to reach. Passing through the same city and the same nights, we each light a lamp behind our own window and endure the day in our own way. Yet even within that quiet distance, people still look toward something, lean their hearts somewhere, and dream of being connected again.
Our Landscapes brings together five perspectives that start from this feeling. A space that imagines the possibility of community through light flowing between walls and windows; a gaze that observes the distance and structures of relationship between people; canvases that record memory in color and form, following the traces left by emotion; a heart that tries to paint hope again after passing through lack and hurt; and landscapes that discover an inner current in the deep stillness of nature. Beginning from different points of departure, these perspectives reveal other scenes of the world we live in.
These works do not tell of grand events. Instead, they hold on to the small, quiet moments that pass by in the time we live. Scenes no one paid attention to—yet it is precisely these moments that gather to form the landscape of our lives.
When landscapes seen from different perspectives are placed in one space, we suddenly realize: although we seemed to stand each in our own landscape, we were in fact passing through the same world.
In the moment those landscapes overlap, we look again—and see that the world we live in is not one, but is made of countless landscapes.
